Closing the elementary portion of Monarch PK8 is wrong. In the communities most affected by the Marshall Fire, who are just now back in their homes and moving forward, this proposal strips away the one source of stability in an otherwise horrendous process. And it does so without achieving the stated district's goals. Families who attend K8s know how wonderful the model is and dismantling Monarch removes this option from our area. This is not a mandatory move. It is a choice - one that should be data-driven and, in the case of Monarch PK8 given the history, morally-driven. Do not close Monarch's PK-5.
