Escríbale a la Junta →Parents should not have to prove that PK-8 is the best educational model in order to question its complete elimination. The party proposing to eliminate an existing option should explain why eliminating it is necessary to achieve the stated objective. We chose Monarch PK-8 deliberately. Younger students grow up alongside older students who know them, mentor them, and model what comes next. Middle-level students become those mentors while remaining connected to trusted adults and a community that has known them since elementary school. Other families value PK-8 for different reasons: keeping siblings together, transportation and childcare, continuity, or stability. We don't have to share the same reason for the choice to have value. Yet the Resilient Schools proposal doesn't preserve that choice in any form. It eliminates both PK-8 options in Louisville/Superior. BVSD says this proposal is intended to improve educational outcomes, better distribute students, retain and attract families, and address fiscal challenges. We recognize those problems may require difficult changes. What has not been demonstrated is that solving them requires eliminating PK-8. If the district's objectives can be achieved while preserving a PK-8 option, then its elimination is not an unavoidable consequence of declining enrollment. It is a choice this Board is making. Before making that choice for every family in Louisville/Superior, please require the district to demonstrate that it is necessary. If it cannot, vote no and require a better solution.
