Escríbale a la Junta →This decision is being rolled out without all the relevant information: 1) the district has openly admitted it has not received enough feedback to the Spanish-speaking community (it's painfully obvious that's because the methods they've used have been inadequate) 2) if additional schools will be closed in the next year, that information needs to be provided at the same time so families can make an informed choice. This proposal is also inequitable for many reasons. Here are a few examples 1) It targets schools with higher SpEd populations 2) it leaves bilingual schools (higher non-white populations) in limbo as to their fate. If the district is going to use enrollment as an indicator of success, but is leaving biligual schools out for another year, students from closing schools will be not enroll in bilingual schools due to the risk, further lowing their enrollment. 3) It gives children from some schools (predominantly whiter/wealthier schools) a whole year head start on choosing their next option.
