Escríbale a la Junta →As a 20+ year resident of the Hill who works at CU and has loved having a family here, it feels like BVSD is cutting off a lifeline to the community with the consideration of closing Flatirons school. I ask: * Could underutilized space be used for district programs, preschool, distinctive/special programs (ie STEM), community partnerships, or other purposes? * What would a one- or two-year pause actually cost? Is there a meaningful financial benefit to making an irreversible decision immediately? * What will happen to class sizes and school climate at the receiving schools? * What are the transportation implications? Will students who currently walk or bike to school instead require buses or longer commutes? * What are the equity implications? * What does the community actually want and what alternatives can parents, teachers, and students help develop?
