As a Bear Creek parent, my biggest question is about class size and actual building capacity if Mesa and Bear Creek are consolidated. BVSD has said the Bear Creek building can accommodate the projected enrollment and that one goal of consolidation is to create a sustainable three-round school. I would like the Board to clearly show the projected enrollment by grade, the number of classroom sections planned for each grade, and the expected class size under the combined model. My daughter will be entering fifth grade in 2027–28, so I especially want to understand whether consolidation would result in appropriately sized fifth-grade classes or whether enrollment could push classes above the district’s intended targets. I would also like clarification on how AIM, RISE, intervention services, specials, preschool and SAC are being counted when determining whether Bear Creek truly has sufficient capacity. I support making decisions based on long-term enrollment realities, but I think families should be able to see the specific staffing and class-size assumptions behind the capacity numbers before the Board votes.
