Write to the Board →I am a parent of two amazing young adults who were raised from kindergarten through graduate school in the BVSD (Douglass, Southern Hills, Fairview) and University of Colorado, Boulder academic systems. These amazing people were home grown and educated In Boulder County. Our home elementary school was Douglass Elementary. We had a combined 10 years there which was essentially a joy. Fabulous teachers, academic curriculum, cultural enrichment including art, choir, musical instrument introduction (4th and 5th grades) not to mention the wonderful PE programs with Mr C. There was also countless hours of parent volunteering in the classroom (literacy support, teacher support), PTA, library, field trips and after school activities (Great Books Program 7 years). The Douglass School education experience gave both my kids a solid foundation upon which to build once they graduated on to middle school, high school and to CU Boulder. Closing this amazing elementary school would be a huge mistake. DO NOT CLOSE DOUGLASS. The right answer here is NO. Thank you.
