I grew up for 18 years in Ridglea Hills in Boulder. We were zoned for Douglass. There were maybe 3 other families in the entire neighborhood with children. When I visit my parents there are now families with children everywhere. Every time I stop to say hello to a neighbor with children, they rave about Douglass and how wonderful it is. Most of the comments are around what a wonderful community the school is-parents are involved, they know the teachers, they support the kids. By taking away Douglass you would be stripping a community of something special that brings them together. Replacing a district school wi Ty a choice school destroys how special it is to go to school IN your community with others that live in your community. I didn’t have that growing up in this area, and it would be very sad to see that taken away from the families here.
