When my family moved into the neighborhood, we were excited that our infant son would be able to attend Flatirons. We want him to be able to walk to school. If Flatirons closes, he won’t have a short journey to school that builds independence and resilience. We will have to drive him across town. Furthermore, I’m concerned that Flatirons closing is yet another signal that Boulder is not a community for families. What sort of future is there for a place that cannot make space for children?
