Have you walked the halls, read the messages as you passed the music room or the library celebrating the individual child? Have you seen the art celebrating the child's individual expression or attended an M&M's musical? Have you learned about the ILC R.I.S.E. program and whom the team serves: these wondrous children who define their own norm and the program accommodates? This is not happenstance. This is not relocatable. This is classic HBS case study on a high performing school with measurable results, quantifiable and rich in narrative. Most importantly, Mesa successfully guides young aspiring, socially and emotionally caring children along the learning road. The education team and staff supporting everyone collaborate and communicate with exceptional professionalism, kindness, respect and care. This is a rare and beautiful synergy that will be forever lost if you vote to close the school and disperse this Mesa magic to the four winds. If you believe in what you were voted in to perform, you would do well to consider why holding on to Mesa and learning from this school's culture and successes are key to the future of BVSD. It is not in gutting schools that saves the bottom line; it is digging in and investing in those schools where students thrive. That should always be your objective and goal. Step up, learn and humble yourselves to pause and rethink. Otherwise, you operate in ignorance. What an irony.
