Reassigning our kids to such far-away schools will change their sense of neighborhood community — friends are now a drive away, not a walk or a bike. That takes away their much-needed community, and their opportunities for safe independence. This is particularly critical for our neighborhood, which struggles to keep an identity with its balance of college students. I know this is a tough decision, but this plan disproportionately impacts the children of a neighborhood that is in a particularly sensitive place.
