This proposal is unbelievably tone-deaf and was made without equity at the center. BVSD completely bypassed obtaining input from the Douglass Community and parents and educators who work with children with learning disabilities. BVSD needs to look at the whole district—not just Boulder, and a school’s whole population, not just the resident population. BVSD deserves a plan that makes sense and that is not so disruptive to so many students. Some schools may need to close due to low enrollment, but schools above the 60th percentile of enrollment capacity should be safe.
