I’ve lived a block away from Flatirons Elementary since 1984. My son went to school there, and we’ve always found it to be a wonderful school. I hate to think of it being closed down. Having an elementary school in your neighborhood provides deep community roots. It has been so nice for the neighborhood kids to be able to walk to school easily. Elementary schools in town create a population invested in the future of the community. Although I appreciate the current challenges Flatirons is facing, I do believe the community deserves a better look at whether closing Flatirons Elementary is the best solution for declining enrollment.
