Douglas elementary has been around since I was a child growing up in the Paul Nor neighborhood. It was of great benefit to me and my fellow class mates to be able to build the necessary skills of independence and freedom to be able to walk to school. This is a skill that is all but lost in today’s society and one that so many would be deprived of in the surrounding neighborhoods, if Douglas Elementary were to be closed.
