Write to the Board →Clearly the upcoming CU South development, the brand new Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan and this BVSD proposal were not coordinated. This closure / combining proposal is clearly shortsighted and will lead to undue strain being put on everyone, students, teachers, parents and neighborhoods for what appears to be a short-termism thinking that will not meet the needs of the community in 5-10 years. Boulder will not remain static, the drive to live here will always be high for families, the limitation to getting more families into the south boulder neighborhoods with declining enrollment in the last 20 years has been housing cost and availability. As the city and county take a more pro-housing approach in their comprehensive plan, zoning changes slowly begin to increase housing options, CU south gets built out, more families will move into the neighborhood to attend these schools. Its time to take a pause and think about what is going to happen to zoning and density in the next 10 to 20 years for all of boulder before we close facilities that we will likely be desperate to open again in the near distant future.
