Barbara: This hastily devised plan is devastatingly hurtful to children, parents, neighborhoods, BVSD teachers, and our community as a whole. I am amazed that the BVSD superintendent and school board is considering implementing it in such a precipitous manner. If carried out, it will result in further enrollment declines as families leave BVSD schools for nearby independent schools or more responsible school systems. Other ideas have been proposed, and the BVSD board has the obligation to examine them. We will lose trust in them if they don't.
