Write to the Board →I don’t find the overall plan, move the needle enough to ensure stability for students going forward, and potentially exposes children to additional impacts during their years in BVSD. Any such plan should clearly aim to ensure the district does not have to go back to the well for this age group for at least a decade. Douglas is our neighborhood school, though our child is now in sixth grade. In addition to pulling kids three different directions who live in the unincorporated county and potentially affecting their ability to make friendship with others living in the unincorporated county, this change raises more questions than the answers it provides about how this population may be affected for metal and high school zoning within the next 10 years. More clarity should have been provided on this topic, as well. Additionally, I can very clearly tell you that the number of kids present in our unincorporated Boulder County neighborhood are distinctly on the rise, and this should be considered as well.
