Parents, neighbors, alumni and kids across the district asked BVSD to vote no on its school-closure plan. BVSD approved it 5–2 on September 22. Here’s one voice:

This plan displaces nearly 2,000 students, for meager savings. It is also incomplete- the board has not evaluated east county schools and may consider additional closures. The students, families and teachers of Boulder County deserve a more transparent and thoughtful process, with more opportunity for community involvement and problem solving. Closing schools should be a last resort, and the board has not demonstrated that they have adequately explored other options.
