My son is about to enter kindergarten in 2027 in Bear Creek. I grew up in Boulder and attended Flatirons elementary and I have a younger son who will start Elementary school in several years. There is so much wrong with the current proposal, I don’t even know where to start. I serve on a board of directors, and I am so unhappy with the lack of transparency and lack of answers to many of the public questions. They have not given the public enough time to understand the numbers and understand how this plan was created. As a parent with two kids who are about to enter BVSD, I’m concerned about the capacity of Bear Creek. I also understand that absolute frustration for families that attend Mesa and flatirons because being close to a wonderful elementary school not only is great for families, community connection, etc. but it’s also good for housing values. I think there is a major lack of transparency and seeing some of the quotes from the chair is disheartening saying she can’t answer these questions. How can you say you’re doing your due diligence if you can’t answer these questions. You need to be able to answer these questions that is literally your job. It might be tough, but you need to be able to provide backup evidence and documentation about why this plan was created and why this is the best move forward.
