Show BVSD we need a better plan.

BVSD decides on the Resilient Schools proposal on Tuesday. From 3:30 until the meeting starts at 5, we fill the corners outside — Birch, Douglass, Flatirons, Mesa, Monarch, Eldorado, and everyone who knows their school could be next.

Park, then walk to the corners

The Apex program there lets out at 3:25, so give it a few minutes and expect pickup traffic.

The four corners

Arapahoe and 65th, where the traffic is. That is the whole point: thousands of cars pass on Arapahoe through the afternoon rush.

Getting inside

Doors are a short walk down 65th from the corners. Head in a little before 5:00 if you want one of the 150 seats.

  1. Your kidsTuesday is the decision. They are who it is about, and at the last meeting students spoke first.
  2. A signAny sign. The ones that worked last time were made on a kitchen table the night before.
  3. Your school colorsFrom across Arapahoe, a crowd in one color reads as one movement.
  4. A neighbor who isn't comingTurnout is the message. One person who says yes doubles what you brought.
There are 150 seats inside. There is no limit outside.

BVSD moved the meeting back to the Education Center, where seating is capped. Most of us will not get a chair — which is exactly why the time on the corners matters.

September 8, outside the last meeting

You have done this before. It worked.

Two weeks ago families from every affected school lined the road before the meeting, then filled the room until 11 pm. BVSD has not stopped hearing about it since.
